With the imperative lockdown to combat coronavirus, the worst hit are the informal labourers like ragpickers, street vendors etc. They are the poorest of the poor and depend on daily wages to sustain their families. To help provide a safety net to casual labour families, Give with support from Helo, has launched this campaign, hand in hand with ActionAid, a trusted nonprofit partner.

Give, ActionAid and Helo have joined hands to support families of informal workers across 40 urban and rural slums in UP, MP, Orissa, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, AP, Karnataka and Assam. Your contribution will support ActionAid in providing food and basic sanitation materials to families of these informal workers. Each food kit costs Rs. 2000, and will sustain a family for a month. It will include daal, rice, atta, salt, spices, oil and milk powder. Each sanitation kit costs Rs. 365, and will include liquid handwash, soap and sanitiser for the family.

ActionAid will also educate the families and communities on the precautionary measures needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and how and when to access government health services for diagnosis and treatment. Along with this ActionAid through its community volunteers will monitor COVID-19 positive cases and home quarantine cases so that proper and timely treatment can be done, and further spread can be prevented.
